Leadership Teams: Managing Impact and Productivity
Facilitators
Jill Flint-Taylor and Georgina Kerr
Who should attend
The workshop is most directly relevant to people who work with leaders and leadership teams, and those who are interested in interventions designed to improve engagement, wellbeing, motivation and productivity in organisations. Experience of supporting others’ development through feedback and coaching will make it easier to think about the practical application of the model, but such experience is not essential.
Workshop overview
This workshop presents a new model of leadership impact, and demonstrates how this model can be applied to help a leadership team manage change and improve levels of engagement, well-being and productivity in their organisation. As well as learning about the model and related research in the fields of personality, leadership and well-being, participants will have an opportunity to work on a practical case study involving a developmental intervention with a fictitious leadership team.
Aims of the workshop
- To introduce participants to a new model that links leader personality to engagement,well-being and productivity in the organisation.
- To provide practical guidance on working with leadership teams.
Projected outcomes and benefits of attending
By attending the workshop, participants will gain an up-to-date awareness of how a leadership team can affect levels of engagement and well-being in the organisation. They will increase their understanding of key principles, tools and techniques for working with leadership teams and for auditing levels of engagement and well-being in an organisation. There will also be an opportunity to discuss and learn from the experience of other participants through working together on a practical application of the leadership impact model.
Psychological theory underpinning the workshop
Research evidence is building for the link between well-being and bottom-line performance. When taken together with findings on personality, this line of well-being and productivity research supports the premise that the leadership style of an individual or group has a direct and measurable impact on well-being and performance in their workgroup or organisation. The Leadership Impact model introduced in this workshop has been validated in studies reported by Dr Jill Flint-Taylor and Professor Ivan Robertson at the BPS Division of Occupational Psychology Conference in January 2007, and the EAWOP Conference in March 2007.
